"The Truth is in the Dirt" is the second single from Karen's acclaimed debut album The Ghost Who Walks (Third Man/XL Recordings). Directed by Maximilla Lukacs and Sarah Sophie Flicker, two filmmakers who go by the name The Belles Of The Black Diamond Field, the stunningly eery and beautifully creepy video was shot in New York City and on the North Fork of Long Island earlier this month.

"The Truth Is In The Dirt" will be released digitally and on vinyl on September 21st. The song comes backed with a previously unreleased cover version of Donovan's1966 hit "Season Of The Witch." Karen and her band will be performing on The Late Show With David Letterman on September 2nd. Los Angeles residents can listen to a live session on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic on the morning of September 1st. Be sure to tune in!

A MESSAGE FROM KAREN

Dear Friends and Fellow Rascals I have some news about my upcoming tour in Europe. I sadly have to cancel some shows and reshuffle a few others. While there is no volcano clouding up the skies this time, I'm having a metaphoric ash cloud of my own at the moment, and would like to explain my reasons in hope that you may understand.

The next few months are going to be very hectic, between music, motherhood and my fashion commitments, so sometimes the balance gets uneven. The schedule for my tour and the months beyond were beginning to conflict with the time I spend with my children, and in order to juggle everything and stay sane I had to reshuffle these dates. The dates below are the new tour dates. I'm very sorry to the folks who have already purchased tickets and for the inconvenience caused, but I can't wait to come back to Europe and play for my fans there. I want to thank you for your support and for enjoying these songs that haunt me.

TOUR DATE SCHEDULING CHANGE

Due to scheduling reasons, the Paris show at La Boule Noire has now been moved from October 3rd to October 2nd. If you purchased tickets for the original date they will still be valid despite the date change, and for those no longer able to attend you can get a full refund at point of purchase. Unfortunately this means that the show at Les Docks in Lausanne, Switzerland on October 2nd has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Fans who purchased tickets to this show can get a full refund at the point of purchase. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused but we thank you for your support and understanding.

Karen Elson will release her new single, "The Truth Is In The Dirt" on Tuesday, September 21st via Third Man/ XL Recordings. Leading up to the release, fans will have several chances to catch Karen perform as she brings the music from her debut album The Ghost Who Walks to WXPN's World Café TODAY, August 4th, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic on September 1st and The Late Show With David Letterman on September 2nd.

"The Truth Is In The Dirt" is the second single from Karen Elson's critically acclaimed album The Ghost Who Walks. 'The Truth Is In The Dirt,' along with the other original songs on the album, was written after Karen's relocation from New York to Nashville and is imbued with the essence of the city in which it was written. Rich with country styling and southern gothic charm, this haunting, swirling murder ballad also nods to Karen's Weimar-inspired political cabaret act The Citizens Band.

Karen is happy to announce that she and her band will be returning to Europe for a tour this fall, with shows in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy and France. New video available! Watch Karen performing "Cruel Summer" (Live Acoustic)

Karen has announced the debut video release for the lonesome, traditional folk/country inspired ballad "Cruel Summer," available exclusively on Style.com on Monday, May 24th. This latest video release is another stunning track off her highly-anticipated, first-ever solo album, The Ghost Who Walks, out just one day later via Third Man/XL Recordings on May 25th.

Karen has also revealed plans for a FREE all-ages live performance with her band at Nashville's Third Man Records on May 24th at 6 p.m. CST, where fans will be able to pick up the album the day before its release. There will be no vinyl release of this show manufactured (nor Black and Blues), however, a special performance will be available to watch via KARENELSON.COM, THIRDMANRECORDS.COM and YOUTUBE.COM/XLRECORDINGS on Wednesday starting at 12 pm CST.

Additionally on Wednesday, May 26th, Karen will be making an appearance at renowned local music store GRIMEY'S for an acoustic in-store performance at 6 p.m. CST with autograph session to follow.

Recorded at Third Man Studios with Jack White as producer, Karen's solo debut features 11 original compositions which were all written following her 2005 relocation from New York City to the city of country music, Nashville, TN. From tormented blues laments to hauntingly beautiful folk-infused melodies with a traditional country twang, The Ghost Who Walks is a striking combination of Elson's storied musical background, coupled with her newly found Nashville roots – and all greatly exemplified in this newest video release for "Cruel Summer."

Also, in celebration of The Ghost Who Walks, Third Man Records have announced an exclusive limited edition sale of peach colored, peach scented vinyl copies of the album, only available for members of their subscription service, THE VAULT . Only 300 copies have been made, and will be available for subscribers to purchase on May 25th.

Due to events beyond our control, Karen Elson and her band are postponing their previously scheduled European shows that were due to start this Sunday. The trip was in support of the release of Karen's debut album "The Ghost Who Walks" which is out May 24/25, and would have included performances in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, London, Manchester and Glasgow. These shows will be rescheduled at a later date and refunds for tickets bought will be provided at point of purchase. The band's dates in the US in June have not been affected. Thanks for your support and apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused.

In anticipation of her debut album release, Karen will play a series of intimate acoustic shows in London, Paris and Hamburg. These will be her first performances in Europe, and she will play alongside two members of her band; Rachelle Garniez (accordion) and Jackson Smith (guitar). She will return later in the spring with her full band for a more extensive tour.
